Ishango is a chamber music piece created for Organo, inspired by the Ishango bones. These little carved baboon bones are the oldest evidence of mathematical thinking (!). They were found in eastern Congo, about 300 km from where I was born. Ishango contains Counting on a Prophecy, a poem by the fabulous writer Eelkje Christine Bosch.
